Definition
CCaaS (contact center as a service) is cloud-hosted contact center software that routes, queues, and manages the calls and other interactions handled by human agents, in place of on-premises call center systems.
CCaaS platforms typically bundle automatic call distribution, queues and skills-based routing, outbound dialers, agent desktops, call recording, workforce management, and reporting, often alongside an IVR for self-service. Their center of gravity is the human agent: getting each interaction to the right person and measuring how it was handled.
In outbound healthcare programs, much of an agent's day is spent before any conversation happens: dialing, leaving voicemail, and retrying numbers that do not answer. That makes the right-party contact rate a major cost driver, and it makes the handoff between automated outreach and a live agent, with the conversation's context attached, an important design point. See warm handoff.
How Consig handles it
Consig automates the outbound first touch, including dialing, getting answered, verifying the patient, and running the conversation, then hands the call to agents with call-attached data through its integrations with major call center and UC systems. Most organizations use the two together; see Consig vs. CCaaS.
